Eurovision World Cup: Greece vs Norway

For the duration of the actual World Cup, some of the best Eurovision artists old and new will be battling it out in a series of matches that mirror the World Cup itself. By the end, we will know the first winner of our Eurovision World Cup!

On each competition day of the World Cup, all of the matches for that day will be posted here on Eurovision Union. For a full 24 hours, a poll will be open for each match and it will be up to you to pick which of the representative songs will win the match.

We are up to Day 15 of our Eurovision World Cup, and today is a special day in the schedule as it’s the final day of the Group stage. We have four matches today, and these are the matches from Group G and Group H. Once we conclude these matches, we will know all of the nations continuing to the next stage of the competition! This match is between Greece and Norway!

Today’s competitors:

Greece has been competing at Eurovision for many years, having made their debut in 1974. Since then they have had mixed results, but a fair few Top 10 finishes throughout the years. They really found their groove in the 2000’s where they finished in 3rd place a few times, plus they won the contest! They have won only once which was in 2005 with Helena Paparizou and her song My Number One, which is representing Greece in our Eurovision World Cup.

Norway first got involved with Eurovision in 1960, and have participated in all but two contest since their debut. Interestingly, Norway has the record for the most last places and the most nul points, but despite that, they have had some success throughout the years. They have won the contest three times now, and representing the nation in our Eurovision World Cup is the most recent winner, Alexander Rybak with Fairytale!
